King Salman’s Project for Assistance in Sudan

Under the generous sponsorship of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid And Relief Centre, and through the King Salman Centre initiative project to contribute to bridging the food gap for poor families in the Republic of Sudan for the year 2022, ADD organization, in the period from September to November 2022, provided and distributed a number of 9524 food baskets in the Republic of Sudan, covering 4 states (Khartoum, Red Sea, White Nile and Blue Nile), benefiting 3508 families, with a total of 20,464 beneficiaries.

The organization has purchased and supplied the food baskets from the local market through a public bid announced on the bidding site on the web, in which all principles of transparency and impartiality were followed according to the regulations and policies regulating the bidding procedures, and they were sorted by the committee delegated by the organization, and the basket contains (5 kg of sugar, 20 kg of flour, 3 kg of lentils, 1 kg of salt and 1 liter of oil), and the total weight of baskets was 285,720 tons.

The beneficiaries of the project are the target groups within the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, who are classified at Phase 4 category. The targeted communities were selected in the concerned states in cooperation with the local authorities in each state. The baskets were migrated from the main warehouse to the target areas under the supervision of the ADD organization. Young men and women from active civil society organizations, trained in following different distribution strategies according to the nature of the region were participated in the distribution.
