On Friday, January 27, a team from the Addition for Disaster Assistance and Development Organization, the Blue Nile Office, moved to implement community activities within the United Nations Development Fund project in the Yara area, Kaisan locality, after completing the necessary procedures with the official authorities in the Humanitarian Aid Commission in the state, where the team consisting of four members of the organization’s employees who believe in the principles and standards of humanitarian volunteer work and carry the task of improving the conditions of their communities for the better, where the goal has been to implement capacity building courses in Yara and Dim Saad complexes in Qaisan locality.
The organization did not exclude those communities because of their distance or the difficulty of the road to them, or the harshness of nature in them and extended its support for more than four years, and continued this year and included in the plans of the organization, its partners and donors from United Nations agencies aimed at strengthening the capacities of those communities, and the team’s trip, which aims to implement capacity-building courses in the complexes of Yara and Deem Saad in the locality of Qaisan, and after the implementation of the completion of the task at exactly five o’clock in the evening, and where the tasks are still many and times Don’t wait, the team decided to return to the Deem Saad area to complete the remaining tasks, and while they were on their way back with their car carrying the organization’s flag, the team was surprised that they found themselves in an area that became affiliated with unofficial parties that shot at the humanitarian team, causing the martyrdom of the deceased of science and humanity, Dr. Adam Terrab, with a head injury, while their bullets hit one of the team members, and divine providence extended to preserve the rest of the colleagues.
At half past seven in the evening, the director of the organization’s office in Nile Al-Azraq was contacted and informed of the event by the survivors, and since then an operations room has been held at the level of the organization’s branch office and the Head office to make the necessary contacts to facilitate the exit of the body and the injured person. At about eight o’clock in the evening, the Commission was informed, which in turn contacted the local and security authorities, and also communicated from the room with the civil administration and community leaders in the areas of Yara and Deem Saad, which was completed with success in evacuating the body and releasing the group and the vehicle from the area of the incident to Yara, and that around eleven o’clock on Saturday morning, coinciding with the completion of the traffic permit and the movement of the joint team from Yara, to the office of the organization in Damazin, the Humanitarian Aid Commission and the Red Cross to receive the body and survivors in the Yara area under the supervision of the security and police departments in the area of Bakuri. (It should be noted that the contact that was made by the rest of the team with the sheikhs of Deem Saad and their confirmation to the unofficial party that the team is coming to establish a training course in their area is a reason for the survival of the rest of the group), and after the arrival of the body and survivors with the joint team to Damazin at about 11 pm Saturday, the necessary legal procedures were completed and then a report was opened at the Damazin Police Station, where the body of the deceased was deposited in the morgue and after receiving the medical report and burial permit, the funeral was held The martyr around twelve o’clock midnight on Saturday, 28/1/2023.
In addition, ADD sends with great sadness and sorrow condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, his family and his relatives, and we ask God to accept him with a good acceptance with the martyrs and friends, and the good of those as companions. And wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.
